Dovetail Care has been a family run business for 21 years now. I joined the business 11 years ago as Managing Director and I wanted to provide the highest quality care possible. Quite simply, I wanted Dovetail Care to be the best social care provider in the Leeds area. I think we have achieved this, but we can't stand still. The industry is ever changing and with the serious lack of funding in social care at the moment, it's a tough industry to be in. But we are here to make a difference to people's lives at a time when they need help the most, and we will continue to try and achieve this despite the challenges we face.

I have worked in the care industry for over 24 years since I was 16 years old. I have worked in community care, residential care, nursing care and hospital based care. I have worked as a Care Assistant, Team Leader, Assistant Manager and now Manager. I also hold my QCF Level 5 in Health & Social Care Mangement. This experience and knowledge enables me to offer care with a personal touch as I clearly understand the needs of the client and the concerns of the family members.

I joined the company 11 years ago as a Care Assistant. I previously worked for another care provider but I was not happy there and had heard of Dovetail Care’s fantastic reputation, so I decided to move to them. I love providing care to our clients and I love seeing the difference I make to their lives. With that in mind, despite now working in the office full time as an administrator, I also work part time providing care and managing our emergency on call service out of office hours.

Do I have to pay for homecare?

Yes. Our care is normally charged by the hour. However, there are several methods of acquiring funding for your care from the NHS and local councils. This is means tested and can fully or partially fund your care requirements. We can advise on how to get started with the process.

I have seen some horror stories in the news about care staff. How do you protect against such things?

All of our staff have a full criminal records check via the DBS system. Furthermore, we provide full training to ensure they meet our strict standards of care. We ensure standards are maintained by ongoing regular checks of our staff on the job. These are unannounced visits. There are also other policies to protect clients such as ‘whistle-blowing’ for protection of vulnerable adults. Our staff are all aware of these policies.

My family member has a particularly delicate or difficult care requirement, how can you help?

We can call out to your home and do an assessment to gather all of your needs. We can discuss with the client and/or the family members how we can meet your requirements, what the options are and what the costs will be. Every client we work with has specific needs of some kind so this is nothing new to us and we are very experienced with personalising your care.

You sound like a great place to work, how can I apply for a job?

We are constantly recruiting for care assistants on a full and part-time basis. We have day and evening shifts as we provide care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Please send a covering email and CV to and our recruitment lead will respond within 24 hours.

How will I receive updates and regular reports on how my loved one is being cared for?

We have regular communication with family members as and when required to manage the care package alongside family support. So we are often in communication with the family. We also maintain a client care plan at the home of the client and this contains records for every single visit our care assistants perform for our own use and also the families use.


I would just like to thank everyone at Dovetail for all their caring support for my mum who sadly passed away last Friday. Your ladies were all lovely and she was so well looked after and it was such a big help to all the family.

To all your staff at Dovetail Care, please pass on my heart-warmed thanks to everyone who looked after mum. They all did a very good job, especially the important things about her health care. Mum always looked clean and tidy and the staff left the house clean and tidy.

Also, thanks to the helpful staff at the end of the phone, they were always very pleasant and helpful. Thanks once again and keep up the good work.
